Parchim

Located on the Müritz-Elde waterway, one of the oldest towns in Mecklenburg surprises visitors with its old part of town that is well worth seeing, lots of natural beauties and a cosy atmosphere

Lots of interesting buildings are preserved from its eventful history. What are particularly interesting are the two large churches and the town hall, which are in the brick Gothic style, but also the historic half-timbered houses in the cosy town centre.

Historic old part of town

Parchim is surrounded by historic town walls and criss-crossed by the Elde River and several streams. The silhouette of the town is marked by the two big churches that are surrounded by interesting half-timbered town houses.

Brick Gothic style

The large brick churches of St George and St Mary and the large town hall date back to the Middle Ages. All three buildings are impressive examples of the brick Gothic style, a special northern European architectural style.
